What is a Contradance?
Informal American Folk Dance just for the fun of it. Also called Old Time or Barn Dancing, it is a simplified version of timeless community dances from Ireland and many other countries. It is like square dance but two couples in each group. A social mixer really, to meet your neighbors and make new friends.
Are the moves difficult?
No- very accessible to beginners. The caller starts with super easy dances, and reviews each dance pattern, with practice before each dance. The caller partners people up so experienced dancers can guide new dancers.
Do I need a partner?
Not at all, singles are as welcome as couples, and the more the merrier. No opposite gender partners are ever required.
